Baby among two shooting victims in suburban West Palm Beach

SUBURBAN WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - A baby remains in the hospital following a shooting Saturday night in West Palm Beach.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office said the child and an adult were shot on the 400 block of Beech Road around 8:45 p.m.

A spokesperson with St. Mary's Medical Center says the patients arrived at the hospital with injuries from the gunfire.

The adult, identified as 20-year-old Victoria Dove, was shot in the hand and treated and released.

11-month-old Terrance River was shot in the head and remains hospitalized.

Detectives said someone drove in front of a home on Beech Road and shot into the house,  injuring the baby and adult inside.

Investigators don't believe they were the intended targets.

"I was watching something and I heard pop, pop, pop, pop, pop!" a neighbor who did not want to be identified said.

Detectives say the adult's injuries were minor enough that she could drive with the baby to the hospital.

Investigators marked numerous shell casings and bullet holes on the house throughout early Sunday morning.

Neighbors say they frequently see many people coming and going from the home, including other kids.

"My door is locked. I'm not going out," the neighbor said.

Deputies said there was an increased law enforcement presence on the street Sunday night as a result of the shooting.
