Anderson Strickland charged with aggravated child abuse after 11-month-old suffers head trauma

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - An 11 month old baby girl was brought to Saint Mary's Medical Center Pediatric Intensive Care Unit on February 16, 2014.

Doctors say that the baby suffered massive head trauma.

The mother and her boyfriend, Anderson Strickland, told investigators that the child was taking steps in their apartment when she fell backwards and hit her head on the tile floor.

The child, according to the mother, did not lose consciousness after the fall. The family later decided to go to the beach.

On the way there they stopped at a store and the mother told investigators that the baby was left alone with Strickland in the car while she went inside.

When she got back to the car she said the child was not responsive.

A medical examination at Saint Mary's concluded that the child's injuries were consistent with being shaken or blunt force trauma and did not come from a fall, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.

Strickland, according to deputies, denied harming the child and refused to cooperate with the investigation.

PBSO arrested Strickland and charged him with aggravated child abuse.

Strickland was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail.
