Amanda McClure: Woman accused of driving drunk and killing Patriot Guard rider had previous DUI

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Amanda McClure could soon be out of jail on a $50,000 bond.

McClure is accused of driving drunk and hitting and killing Jack Regan, a Patriot Guard Rider who was riding his motorcycle on Interstate 95 to meet an Honor Flight in September.

"He was just the most likable guy," Jim Kamen, Regan's close friend, said.

Prosecutors say McClure had a blood alcohol level three times the legal limit after a night of bar hopping that ended at The Dirty Martini in Palm Beach Gardens.

"They were going back to Palm City and they had been drinking all night," prosecutor Judy Arco said.

Arco says what makes this most upsetting is that the 24 year old has already been convicted of a different DUI.

"You would think if you've been arrested for DUI with that high of a blood alcohol, you would never want to do it again," Arco said.

Friends of Jack say McClure killed one of the best guys around.

"That was her chance. This time she killed somebody," Kamen said.

Jack dedicated his life to Veterans and training guide dogs for wounded servicemen.

"I go past the memorial marker on the highway almost every day and I think about Jake and I know he is my guardian Angel now riding on my shoulder and watching out for me," Kamen said.

While prosecutor Judy Arco can't bring Jack Regan back, she says what she will get is justice.

"This is not an accident. This is a crash because she knowingly got behind the wheel knowing she was drinking throughout the night," Arco said.

In addition to the $50,000 bond, McClure will also have to wear a tracking device and take tests to ensure she doesn't drink alcohol.
