WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Two West Palm Beach city workers were taken to the hospital after they hit a live power line downtown Tuesday morning, said city fire and rescue officials.
The incident happened around 9 a.m. near the fountains on Clematis Street.
The workers were doing landscaping work around the visitor information center, hit an energized line and were shocked.
"There was a huge explosion with fire coming out of the top of the electricity box. And, I saw a man get thrown ten to fifteen feet. And, our whole building shook and the electricity went out. They were conscious. They were up and walking around just trying to figure out what had happened as well as we were," said witness Katie Lynch.
Both of workers were transported to St. Mary's Medical as trauma patients but are in stable condition.
