Wellington voters elect ormer City Councilman Bob Margolis as Mayor

WELLINGTON, Fla. - In Wellington's hotly contested mayoral race wrought with nasty attack ads, former city councilman Bob Margolis knocked incumbent Darell Bowen out of his seat.

With all 29 precincts reporting, Margolis earned 58% of the vote, or 3,338 votes. Bowen tagged behind, with 42% of the vote. That amounted to 2,398 votes.

Margolis says in his new job, he'll draw from the six years of experience he gained as a Wellington city councilman.

"I would love to have the opportunity to meet with staff, and let's sit down and work together and push Wellington to where it needs to be," said the newly-elected mayor.

Margolis mentioned he has a lot of work ahead of him, and this win will take a while to sink in.

He says his first item of business is to take his wife, who doubled as his campaign manager, on vacation.

Mr. Bowen was elected Wellington mayor in 2008 and 2010. He served on the Board of Directors for the Florida League of Mayors.
