Wellington Regional Medical Center opening new Alan B. Miller Pavilion

WELLINGTON, Fla. -- A new addition to Wellington Regional Medical Center opens next Monday.

The expansion project is called the Alan B. Miller Pavilion, located on the northern facing side of the hospital.

The three-story pavilion features 80 new private patient rooms, a new lobby and registration area and spa-like decor. Erik Olson, the Chief Operating Officer of the hospital says, "We really wanted to bring nice finishes and a warm, comfortable environment to our patients and their families."

Once it opens on Oct. 8, the hospital will have 233 licensed beds to offer patients.

Hospital staff say the new addition was necessary to keep up with the growing demand of the western communities.

Olson says, "There was a considerable amount of congestion in our emergency room and operating rooms. So there was obviously a demand for additional beds. So the 80 beds will help alleviate the congestion."

The pavilion is named in honor of the CEO and Chairman of the Board of Universal Health Services, Inc., Alan B. Miller.

Once the new wing open, crews will refurbish the rest of the 25 year old hospital, to make it look uniform throughout the building.
