WELLINGTON, Fla. Hundreds of Wellington kids are eagerly waiting to get inside their new after school home.
Officials at the Boys and Girls Club in Wellington announced Tuesday that an all new location is ready for move in.
The new 22,750 square foot facility has been in the works for nearly 8 years. The building is named after donor Neil S. Hirsch. His $1.5 million donation helped speed along the construction of the $3.6 million facility.
Inside, kids ages 6 to 18 can enjoy a band room, gym, dance room, game room, and other areas for after school studying.
Wellington Boys and Girls club president Mary O'Connor says it will help accommodate more kids, and keep them out of trouble.
"It will really allow us to reach out to the teens in this community. The previous facility really didn't have a place for them so it's going to be full. It's going to be full of kids from morning to night," said O'Connor.
Anyone is welcome to tour the new facility at 1080 Wellington Trace in Wellington from 1-4 p.m.
