Three pets rescued from Wellington house fire

WELLINGTON, Fla. - Two cats and one dog were rescued Monday afternoon from a house fire in Wellington, according to Capt. Albert Borroto, spokesman for Palm Beach County Fire Rescue.

Borroto said firefighters responded around 4 p.m. to a call of a house fire at 2995 Shaughnessy Drive. Upon arrival they found light smoke and a small fire in the kitchen area. They continued their search for pets reported to be inside the home and found two cats and a dog, which had to be resuscitated, Borroto said.

The animals were taken to Palm Beach Veterinary Specialists on Forest Hill, he said.

No one was injured in the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
