American Heritage School football player suffers traumatic injury, flown to hospital

WELLINGTON, Fla. - A high school football player suffered a traumatic injury Wednesday evening at Palm Beach Central High School in Wellington and was flown to hospital, said Capt. Albert Borroto, spokesman for Palm Beach County Fire Rescue.

The junior varsity punter for American Heritage School went in for a tackle and took a hard hit during a game against Palm Beach Central.
  
Rescue crews said the player was in serious condition when he was flown by Trauma Hawk helicopter to Delray Medical Center.
  
The game was called off after the injury.
  
The player's name has not been released.
