Shari Lynne Ball: The body of a woman from Palm Beach County who disappeared in 1983 has been ID'd

The body of a woman from Palm Beach County who disappeared in 1983 has been identified.

The family of Shari Lynne Ball reported her missing in June of 1983 to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators say she contacted a friend from a truck stop in Ashland, Virginia a day or two after she left Florida to start a modeling career but was never heard from again.

According to New York State Police, a hunter in Shelby, in Orleans County, New York found a severely decomposed body in October of 1983. Police say they were never able to identify the body until late last year when they developed a break in the case.

The body was exhumed and a DNA analysis was performed. Police say a match was made to a family member who had entered their DNA several years ago.

Ball was 20 years old, white, 5’ 04”, 100 pounds, with hazel eyes and blonde hair and was also known to use the name of Timmerman when she disappeared, police say.

Police believe foul play may be involved.
