Law enforcement said a female Palm Beach County sheriff’s deputy sustained minor injuries after an overnight crash involving a suspected drunk driver near Royal Palm Beach.

The wreck, which involved a 2016 Dodge Ram truck, occurred around 3:30 a.m. at the intersection of Okeechobee Boulevard and State Road 7.

PBSO said a pickup truck was traveling northbound on State Road 7, approaching Okeechobee Boulevard, when it struck the deputy's vehicle while it was stopped at a traffic light.

A third driver in a 2016 Ford Mustang was also stopped at the red light beside the PBSO deputy.  During the wreck, the deputy's vehicle hit the left rear of the Mustang, hitting the left rear of the Mustang.

The PBSO deputy's vehicle sustained damaged in the rear, while the truck had front-end damage.

Both the deputy, identified as Lenndy Chiquito-Rodriquez, and the driver, Joseph Sanchez, 47, of West Palm Beach, were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The driver of the Mustang suffered minor injuries but did not have to be taken to the hospital.

PBSO said charges are pending in the case. Sanchez will not be attending first appearance or going to jail Tuesday.

All lanes were back open by 5:38 a.m.
