RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. -- Riviera Beach police have released the identity of a woman who was found dead this morning on the side of the road.
Shante Curtis, 32, was discovered by a truck driver in the 7000 block of Haverhill Road around 4 a.m. after investigators said she was shot and killed, according to Riviera police spokesperson Rose Anne Brown.
Officers determined Curtis was shot around 11 p.m. Monday. While there were shell casings in the area, police have not been able to confirm that the shooting took place where Curtis' body was discovered.
Police say Curtis' last known address was in Tiffany Lakes on 45th Street in Mangonia Park.
Curtis has been arrested in the past. In 2001, she was arrested on domestic battery charges. In 2002 and 2003, she was arrested on two separate criminal mischief charges. In 2006, she was arrested on charges of dealing in stolen property.
Haverhill Road was temporarily closed south of Bee Line Highway and north of Dyer Boulevard as investigators worked the crime scene this morning.
Police will not say if they have a shooting suspect, but say the investigation is ongoing.
