Tracy Martin, father of Trayvon Martin, spoke in Riviera Beach Sunday

Hopes to repeal Stand Your Ground law

RIVIERA BEACH, Fla.-- As part of the Trayvon Martin Foundation tour, Tracy Martin, father of Trayvon Martin, made a stop in Riviera Beach on Sunday.

Nearly 1,000 people came out to the Hilltop Missionary Baptist Church on 30th Street to spark a change in the law.

Riviera Beach Mayor Thomas Masters and numerous local pastors welcomed Martin to the city.

Dozens held signs to rally for a repeal of the law, while hundreds wore T-shirts and hoodies to support the Martin family.

"Let everybody know whose side you're on, we're on the side of justice for Trayvon Martin," said Masters.

Tracy Martin says he blames the law for letting his son's killer walk free.

"We're just trying to show the world that this is not a black or white issue. This is  a humanity issue  and that we're advocating for all people," said Martin.

Martin says he hopes to keep other teens from meeting Trayvon's fate.

Through the tour, he hopes to rally for support in changing the Stand Your Ground law, educate the community on how to avoid becoming a victim of it, and most importantly, inform people about what the law says.

A petition was also passed around and signed at the rally to repeal the law.

Trayvon's mother, Sybrina Fulton, is also traveling  to rally against the measure.
