A symposium in Riviera Beach held Sunday has the goal of bringing more positive interactions between the public and law enforcement.
The event took place at the Riviera Beach Marina Center.
Speakers from the "Ferguson Firm" and "Fathers Forever" gave advice aimed to properly handle police encounters.
Organizers say knowing your rights is essential to better community relations.
“I think it really does start with education and for people to know what their rights are, what they can or can't do and what they should or should not do. It's imperative for those that have the information not be stingy, and share it with the community. It’s a life or death situation,” said organizer Edwin Ferguson.
This symposium has been held for the past five years.
