The teenager was reported missing and later located just east of the designated swimming area at Peanut Island Park, according to Therese Barbera with the Palm Beach Sheriff's Office.

Lifeguards and Palm Beach Sheriff Office's Marine Enforcement Unit's members jumped into the water in an effort to locate the missing swimmer.  The victim was found in about nine minutes about 100 yards southeast of the designated swimming area

PBSO's SWAT Medics began CPR on the unresponsive boy while he was transported to the Riviera Beach Marina.

"We could see the kid out there drowning and we were trying to get people to go out there. It seemed like he was caught in the current," witness Toby Carr said.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was taken to St. Mary's Medical Center but later pronounced dead.
