RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. - Riviera Beach Mayor Thomas Masters is on his way to South Africa to attend memorial services for former President Nelson Mandela.
"With respect to the life-altering sacrifices made by President Mandela – that benefited all of mankind – I am humbled to have opportunity to make this trip. I count it all joy to stand in tribute to this great humanitarian as a representative of my church family and all of Riviera Beach," said Masters in a news release.
Masters is scheduled to return to Palm Beach County early next week.
The trip is being paid for by Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, where the mayor has been a longtime pastor.
