Mechelle Clarke boarded the Riviera Beach-based ship in the Bahamas with a suitcase carrying cocaine, according to an arrest report issued by U.S. Homeland Security.
When Clarke arrived at the Port of Palm Beach, her suitcase was searched by U.S. Customs and Border Patrol.
The agents found a secret compartment in the suitcase that had a gift wrapped package containing cocaine, investigators said.
The package according to the arrest report weighed 2.25 kilograms and contained over 500 grams of cocaine.
Clarke told investigators that she was paid between $2,000 and $3,000 to bring the suitcase to the United States.
Clarke said she knew the suitcase contained drugs, but did not know what type or how much was inside, according to the report.
Clarke is currently in federal custody on charges of possession with intent to distribute more than 500 grams off cocaine.
