Man wounded in drive-by shooting in Riviera Beach

RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. - A man was shot Saturday afternoon while standing in front of an apartment complex in the 1400 block of 32 nd Street in Riviera Beach, said Rose Anne Brown, spokeswoman for city police.

Brown said a car drove by and fired, wounding the man. By the time rescue crews arrived on scene, the victim had been transported to the hospital. He suffered possible life-threatening injuries, Brown said.

She said that officers were told by residents of the apartment building that another person may have been wounded in the gunfire, however, police have not been able to locate a second victim.

Police officers pursued the suspect vehicle into north West Palm Beach but desisted because the driver was going at a high rate of speed, putting the public in danger, Brown said.

Authorities are looking for a newer model white Toyota Avalon with dark tinted windows, she said.

There are no other details immediately available.
