Kevin Cartwright, Michael Murray charged with robbing mail carrier in Riviera Beach

RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. - Two Palm Beach Gardens High School students were arrested in connection with the robbery of a U.S. Postal Service mail carrier in Riviera Beach on Oct. 31, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Kevin Cartwright, 15, and Michael Murray, 14,  both face robbery with a  firearm charges.  Cartwright is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail and Murray is being held on $30,000 bail at the Palm Beach County Jail.

According to the arrest report the mail carrier was approached by Cartwright and Murray and told,  "give me everything you got."

The incident happened on the 700 block of West 35th Street.  The postal carrier had his shorts patted down by the two teens, according to arrest report. 

One of the teens pulled out a semi-automatic handgun and pointed it to the mail carrier, according to arrest affidavit. Then, one of the teens struck the mail carrier across the right temple with the gun.

Murray and Cartwright were arrested on Nov. 1 after a citizen who wished to remain anonymous contacted authorities. The person told police the juveniles attended Palm Beach Gardens High School.

Murray and Cartwright were initially held at the Juvenile Assessment Center.  They are now being charged as adults, according to authorities.
