Demajae Bryers found: Riviera Beach police find missing 12-year-old boy, returning him to mother

RIVIERA BEACH, Fla.-- After he went disappeared for nearly twenty hours, 12-year-old Demajae Bryers was reunited with his mother, Michelle Friday.

"I had faith and I believed in the Lord and I knew the Lord was gonna bring my son home," Michelle says.

She says her son left home around 5 p.m. Thursday evening. He had been misbehaving that afternoon, causing Michelle to call the police on him. She hoped having some officers come out and talk to him would cause him to behave better. But that wasn't the case.

Around 5 p.m. she says he left home. Bryers says it's not uncommon for her son to take off like that, typically going to a friend or family member's house.

But once the sun went down, she says she started worrying about her 12 child.

Members of the Riviera Beach Police Department went door to door Friday morning, passing out flyers with the boy's picture on them. Eventually, the department received a tip that he was at a house off of Blue Heron Boulevard.

Demajae says he walked to the house with a friend, and stayed overnight. The adults at the home say they didn't realize he was missing.

Demajae's mother hopes he learns a lesson from this situation. She says, "I don't want to lose my baby to these streets. There's too many of our black, young men being lost in the jail, prison, graves. I don't want my son to be one of those."
