Bomb squad determines suspicious package found at Quiznos in Riviera Beach not a threat

RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. - Riviera Beach Police investigated a suspicious package Tuesday night that was left at a Quiznos restaurant on Blue Heron Boulevard, a police spokesperson said.

Shortly after 6 p.m., Riviera Beach Police and the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office bomb squad responded to a call in reference to a suspicious package left inside the sandwich shop located at 1850 Blue Heron Blvd.

"A man walked into the Quiznos, left a backpack and ran out of the store," said Riviera Beach Police spokesperson Rose Anne Brown.

Local businesses within 1,000 feet of the restaurant were evacuated.

Blue Heron Boulevard was shutdown for a period of time in both directions between Congress Avenue and Avenue S.

Blue Heron Boulevard was re-opened around 9:30 p.m. after authorities determined the backpack was not a threat.
