OCEAN RIDGE, Fla. - The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, The Coast Guard and U.S. Border Patrol investigated undocumented migrants coming ashore in Ocean Ridge on Sunday morning.
According to the Sheriff's Office, a 911 call came in at 5:45 a.m. in reference to several migrants coming ashore near 1919 Ocean Ave.
A Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office helicopter was launched and and the pilot spotted an abandoned boat and several footprints leading away from the shore.
A joint effort between the Delray Beach Police Department and the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office resulted in taking 15 adults and two infants believed to be from Haiti into custody
The U.S. Border Patrol will be taking over the investigation.
There was no immediate word on the conditions of the individuals at this time.
