Sharks sighted again off Palm Beach

Continuing annual migration

PALM BEACH, Fla. - If you can get a bird's-eye view you can catch a glimpse of one of nature's most spectacular sights.

Sharks, and lots of them, continue to swim in big numbers off of the South Florida coast where they are taking part in their annual winter migration. Hundreds continued meandering Monday just off of Palm Beach.

"It may seem like shark-infested waters, but people shouldn't really be afraid. it's not something to be scared about," shark biologist Dr. Brian Franks said last week during an interview on the TODAY Show. "In winter as the waters cool up north they move south to find warmer water. Even though you are seeing sharks close to the shoreline, they are generally not interested in you in the water."

Spinner sharks were numerous and frisky over the weekend. Brenda Lord captured amazing video of sharks jumping out of the water off Boca Raton.
