No new permit issued to Town of Palm Beach's yard waste dumping sites

Dump sites drawing objection

PALM BEACH, Fla. - A new permit hasn't been issued to the Town of Palm Beach's yard waste dumping sites off Okeechobee Boulevard.

Wednesday morning, the Solid Waste Authority's board of commissioners recommended that the Department of Environmental Protection not approve the Town of Palm Beach's variance request.

Now the DEP must decide on whether to grant the request that ultimately would lead the town to get a new permit for dumping yard waste.

The Town's variance request is asking not to compact or cover the yard waste they dump at the sites, according to the health department.

It also is asking to change the slope of the waste piles.

I'm trying to figure out how long this process will take from DEP. All the info above came from the health department
