Cold start for 5th Annual Town of Palm Beach United Way 5K Turkey Trot

PALM BEACH, Fla. -- Some of the coldest air of the season welcomed more than 500 runners, their friends and their families for the 5th Annual Town of Palm Beach United Way 5K Turkey Trot on Thursday.

The 3.1-mile race , which began shortly fter 7am at Bradley Park, took runners through Bradley Place, North County Road and Plantation Road.

The first runner finished less than 17 minutes into the race.

Awards were given to the top male and female finishers in each age group, the top overall male and female finishers and the person dressed in the best costume, the Town of Palm Beach United Way said.

Temperatures were in the upper 40s during the race but were expected to climb into upper 60s and lower 70s by Thursday afternoon.
