Palm Beach County Commission: Dress code for cabbies and other changes under consideration

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla - Changes could be coming to taxi cab companies and other vehicles for hire businesses in Palm Beach County.
The Palm Beach County Commission at its Tuesday meeting will consider new requirements for drivers and operators. Drivers for the first time would be subject to a dress code. The proposal calls for drivers to be hygienically clean and well groomed.
Passengers short on cash?
No problem; the new rules would require taxis, limos and other vehicles for hire in Palm Beach County accept bank debit and credit cards.
The proposed rule change would also require companies to retire vehicles that are older than ten years or seven years if they have more than 500,000 miles.
If the Palm Beach County Commission gives initial approval to the vehicle for hire requirements then a public hearing and second vote by the commission will take place on April 16th.
