Alcohol or drugs may have contributed to a crash that killed one person in The Acreage Friday

Driver and victims identified

THE ACREAGE, Fla. – Drugs and alcohol may have been the cause of a two-car fatal accident Friday in The Acreage.

Lesa Tavarez, 53, of West Palm Beach, died when the 2011 Mini Cooper she was driving was hit by a 2008 Hyundai driven by 17-year-old Daemon Drew, of Orlando, according to a media release from Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.

Two other passengers in the Mini Cooper, including a minor  were critically injured. The minor, Zachary Dooling, 20, of Loxahatchee and Drew were airlifted to St. Mary's Medical Center.

The crash happened around 1:13 p.m. at the intersection of Orange Boulevard and Seminole Pratt Whitney Road.

According to the release, Tavarez was turning right onto Orange Boulevard from Seminole Pratt Whitney Road when Drew hit her vehicle, causing it to rollover. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

After crashing into Tavarez' car, Drew continued heading westbound on Orange Boulevard, he hit a curb causing his car to overturn  

The accident is under investigation.
