WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Students at Golden Grove Elementary School are singing about fruits and vegetables.
Third grader Gabriella is one of the stars."It was super fun, I really loved it."
Gabriella's music teacher, Esti Gastesi is the driving force behind the healthy musical.
"It's about promoting healthy eating but being in the positive, " said Gabriella.
Gabriella and her school mates are on a better track.
According to the Centers for Disease Control, childhood obesity rates in many states is slightly decreasing, Florida is on the list.
"Every year we are already working into putting less sodium, less sugar, more fruits and vegetables and we are working with local farmers so our produce is fresh and locally grown."
The kids did more than learn how to eat healthy. The made their own costumes. They sewed materials, recycled it it into costumes, representing the brain, the heart, the kidneys and intestines.
"It's been amazing because I'm sure the children will love to get more involved in these things, ' said Gastesi.
The musical is having a positive impact on the children, including Gabriella.
Gabriella said, "'Convincing our dad to plant a garden with us and got tomatoes and carrots after a couple of months and it was really fun."
