Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office deputies are investigating vandalism to a large number of mailboxes in the Royal Palm Beach-Loxahatchee area.

In the La Mancha neighborhood more than 15 mailboxes were either damaged or destroyed.

Another 5 were damaged on 60th Street.

Some of the victims admit that it has happened to them more than once and it’s costing them money.

"Between 80 and a $100 per box so I would say close to a $1,000 over the 30 years which, broken up, doesn't seem like a lot, but it’s still a lot when you have a limited income," said victim Patricia Rothenburg.

In the La Mancha neighborhood in Royal Palm Beach, Jessie Robinson says her damaged mailbox is a huge inconvenience.

Robinson works for the Postal Service and says if your mailbox gets knocked down, carriers can decide not to deliver your mail.

"He would not have to leave this mail because I wouldn't be able to secure it," says Robinson.

Deputies are investigating whether anyone has surveillance video of the crimes.
