Jackson, dog, left behind in Miami, suffered over 800 tick bites, ready to be adopted

A young dog that was rescued after being abandoned on the streets of South Florida last month needs some help.

"It had two different types of giardia, it was filled with hookworms, and it had over 800 ticks on its body," said Jessica Swerdlin

"Jackson" is a full-bred boxer.

He survived on garbage for months after his Miami owners moved, leaving him behind.

Then a volunteer with "pet haven rescue" caught him and brought him to their facility in Loxahatchee.

He's been spending the last couple of weeks there, getting medical treatment and food.

"Jackson is on the road to recovery we've gotten some weight back on Jackson, gotten the ticks off of Jackson, so he's getting ready to be fixed and then Jackson will be up for adoption," said Swedlin.
