Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission officers had to do some investigating to figure why a gator foot was hanging out of a truck dashboard.
FWC posted the photo Monday morning and said Officers Luis Merizio and Casey Schroer stopped the truck to check a day-use pass at the J.W. Corbett Wildlife Management area.
When the officers stopped the truck, they said they noticed something unusual.
The Facebook post said the officers found scattered throughout the cab of the truck alligator parts, including a foot in the dashboard of the vehicle.
The driver told the officers that the parts were from an alligator he hunted a few years ago, but officers said they could smell that the alligator had been taken recently.
After reading him his rights, the FWC said the man confessed to killing the alligator just a few days ago without a permit.
FWC said the man was cited but did not release his name.
