Christopher Dills, Danielle Lewis charged with stealing equipment from a hardware store

LOXAHATCHEE, Fla. - A Loxahatchee man and his fiance were engaged in a plan to steal expensive landscaping equipment from a hardware store, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies say that Christopher Dills and Danielle Lewis were part of a group who stole Stihl chainsaws and other items from Moore's True Value Hardware on Seminole Pratt Whitney Road and sold them to pawn shops in the area.

Investigators say that Lewis, along with another woman who has not been charged, would enter the store when it first opened and distract the clerks. Then Dills, and another man who is not currently facing charges, would take the merchandise from the store.

Dills and the other individual worked for a property maintenance company owned by Dills' mother.

Deputies say that a company-owned truck was used during the robberies.

Both Dills and Lewis told PBSO that they are heavily addicted to Oxycodone and have been stealing to support their drug habits.

Deputies say that both suspects cooperated with them and expressed remorse.

Dills and Lewis were booked into the Palm Beach County Jail.
