Laser pointed at aircraft landing at Palm Beach International Airport

PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. - A JetBlue flight landed safely Monday evening at Palm Beach International Airport after someone pointed a laser into the cockpit as the aircraft was flying over Riviera Beach, said Teri Barbera, spokeswoman for Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies were dispatched to the area where the laser beam was thought to have originated.

No one has been arrested, Barbera said.

Misuse of a laser lighting device is a third-degree felony.

Any person who knowingly points the beam of a laser on an individual operating a motor vehicle, vessel or aircraft commits a second-degree felony, if the act results in bodily injury.

There are no other details immediately available.
