Lantana man arrested in shooting death of Boynton Beach man early Saturday

A second victim was shot in the leg

A 20-year-old Lantana man was arrested Sunday in connection with a shooting that left a man dead and another injured on Saturday.

Markiss Mercy, of Wilkinson Road, is charged with improper exhibition of a dangerous firearm, discharging a firearm from a vehicle and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. Mercy is being held at the Palm Beach County Jail without bond.

Mark Phileus, 18, of Boynton Beach, was shot in the head early Saturday morning while sitting inside a car in the 300 block of Northeast 28 th Court. He died Sunday morning at Delray Medical Center, according to Stephanie Slater, spokeswoman for Boynton Beach Police Department.

The other victim, 21-year-old Marquis Bradley, of Boynton Beach, was shot in the leg and taken to Bethesda Memorial Hospital where he was treated and later released.
