LANTANA, Fla. - A party is being planned in Lantana to celebrate the opening of the new Lantana bridge, according to the town.
The E. Ocean Avenue Bridge has been closed since March 2012.
The center span of the bridge will be 21 feet high and will reduce bridge openings by about 40%, according to officials.
The design of the bridge will also be wider to allow for separation of pedestrian and traffic by a barrier and wider sidewalks for cyclists and pedestrians, town officials said.
The bridge opening party and parade will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2013 from 4-7 p.m.
The event will include live music, food, a ribbon cutting ceremony, and a fireworks display on the Intracoastal Waterway.
