Three Lake Worth Middle School students hospitalized after school bus crash in Lake Worth

LAKE WORTH, Fla. -- Three children have been hospitalized after an accident involving a school bus in Lake Worth this morning, according to Palm Beach County Fire Rescue.

The crash occurred near 6th Avenue North and D Street around 8:45 a.m. when fire rescue officials said a grey car pulled in front of the school bus and spun into another parked car.

According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, the injured children attend Lake Worth Middle School.

The three students were taken to St Mary's Medical Center's Pediatric ER with minor injures.

There were 60 students on the bus at the time of the crash.

Deputies and Palm Beach County Fire Rescue crews responded to the scene.

Three vehicles were involved in the crash: The bus, a car that crews say drove in front of the bus and a parked car.

Fire rescue officials said the bus driver helped keep the kids safe during the scary experience.

"The driver of the bus did an excellent job evaluating the situation with her students," said District Captain George Springthorpe. "She kept them calm and organized and had great information for us when we arrived."

As for the driver of the car, deputies said she was cited for "violation of the right way."

She was treated on scene and refused transport to a hospital.
