90-year-old man killed in Lake Worth wreck

A 90-year-old man was killed and another person was hurt when a vehicle crashed Monday at Superior Automotive on Lake Worth Road.

According to a Palm Beach County sheriff's report, a 2007 Honda Accord, driven by Constance Demarco, 88, of Lake Worth, was exiting a shopping center that was located on the east side of Detroit St.

As the vehicle approached a stop sign to exit onto Detroit Street, it started to speed up, instead of braking.

The car crossed Detroit Street and entered onto the property on the west side of the road.

The vehicle drove onto the driveway of a Superior Automotive garage where there were several vehicle lifts in front of the business.

A second vehicle, a 2014 Ford Explorer, was on a lift that was elevated approximately 4 feet off the ground and there was a mechanic under the SUV.

The mechanic was able to see Accord approaching and was able to get out of the way.

The Accord continued up the drive and drove under Explorer.

The Accord continued under the lift and struck another vehicle that was parked in the garage.

The vehicle was pushed forward striking a large tool box, which was pushed through the concrete block wall. The occupants of the Accord were transported to Delray Medical Center where the passenger, Francisco Demarco, died. The case is under investigation.
