Teen shot by BB gun in Lake Worth, flown to hospital

LAKE WORTH, Fla. - A teenage boy was flown to a trauma center Tuesday evening after being shot with a BB gun in Lake Worth, said Capt. Albert Borroto, spokesman for Palm Beach County Fire Rescue.

Rescue crews responded around 6 p.m. to reports of a traumatic injury in the 6900 block of Blue Skies Dr. Upon arrival they discovered a teenager had been injured by a BB gun. The teen met trauma alert criteria and was flown to Delray Medical Center by Trauma Hawk, Borroto said.

His injuries, however, are not life-threatening, said Teri Barbera, spokeswoman for the Palm Beach County's Sheriff' Office.

She said the shooting is under investigation.
