Man surrenders after PBSO SWAT standoff at suburban Lake Worth home

Deputies were attempting to serve a search warrant

SUBURBAN LAKE WORTH, Fla. -- A man surrendered after a standoff at a suburban Lake Worth home Thursday afternoon, officials at the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office report.

It began in the 4600 block of Gulfstream Road when the U.S. Marshals Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force arrived to serve seven outstanding warrants to 23-year-old Ricardo Juan.

During an arrest attempt, a task force member fired his weapon after he said he felt threatened by an action Juan took.

Juan barricaded himself inside the residence and refused to come out.

A SWAT team was called, but Juan gave up before they arrived.
Juan faces several charges including grad theft, fleeing or attempting to elude a marked police car and trafficking in cocaine.

There were two additional arrests as well. PBSO says a woman trying to help Juan faces battery on a law enforcement officer. And a man who tried to get into the area after Juan's arrest faces an obstruction of justice charge.
Melaleuca Lane was shut in the area for a time.
