Radish Festival at Lake Worth Farmers Market shows locally grown produce at its best

LAKE WORTH, Fla. - Think radishes are just red and make you burp?

Then check out the Lake Worth Farmers Market on Saturday where local chefs will prepare artisan-creative dishes made with local radishes.

The vegetables are high in Vitamin C, fiber and loaded with antioxidants. One area farmer grows the majority of radishes you see in local groceries.

From 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, sample radish delights such as radish bread, radish cupcakes and a radish apple cake.  How about radish butter for sour dough bread?

It isn't just radishes at the event. Local growers are selling farm-fresh fruit and vegetables at the market.

The Radish Festival gets underway at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Lake Worth Farmers Market located on A1A at Lake Avenue and Old Bridge Park on the east side of the Intracoastal Waterway.
