Meals on Wheels expanding service to Lake Worth

LAKE WORTH, Fla. - Thousands of seniors in Lake Worth are now eligible to receive Meals on Wheels.

The Palm Beaches chapter is expanding with the help of a $70,000 grant from the Quantum Foundation. The hope is the money will mean thousands of more meals delivered every year.

Meals on Wheels' volunteers prepare and deliver food to seniors, many of which are homebound and can't cook or shop for themselves.

"They do everything for me.  They are all so nice. I wish the whole world was like that, I really do," Meals on Wheels recipient Maria Mallard said.

Meals on Wheels Palm Beaches already delivers to West Palm Beach, Riviera Beach and Century Village.

Currently the program delivers around 75 meals a day.

Meals on Wheels is looking for volunteers with the program expanding.
