Man, infant hit by vehicle in Lake Worth

LAKE WORTH, Fla. - A father and his 14-month-old child were injured after they were hit by a vehicle in Lake Worth on Thursday morning.

The wreck occurred around 9 a.m. at Lake Worth and Nassau roads, according to Cpt. Albert Borroto, the public information officer with Palm Beach County Fire Rescue.

A white van was heading north on Nassau Road and made a left on Lake Worth Road.  The father was walking with his child in a stroller and attempting to cross the street at a crosswalk.

The driver of the van said he did not see the pedestrians, hitting both of them.

The father sustained scrapes and bruises, the toddler is at a local hospital in critical condition.

"It's a busy intersection. Well you have the turnpike right here so it's a busy intersection. Lot of traffic going in and out, people going to work," said Cathy Bannister.

The road was closed for about an hour but reopened by 10:30 a.m.
