Ill man rescued from cruise ship off Lake Worth

The U.S. Coast Guard says an ill man is safe after being medevaced off a cruise ship near Lake Worth, Florida Sunday morning.

The Coast Guard received notification that a 26-year-old man abourd the Carnival Fascination cruise ship was suffering symptoms of appendicitis 32 nautical miles east of Lake Worth.

Coast Guard Station Lake Worth Inlet launched a smallboat crew on recommendation of the Coast Guard flight surgeon.

The smallboat arrived and safely took the man off the cruise ship and transported him to the Riviera Beach Marina where local emergency medical crews were waiting, according to the Coast Guard.

The man was in stable condition at the time of transfer by EMS crews.
