Great American Cleanup in Lake Worth tidies up the shores of the Lake Worth Lagoon and Snook Island

Several groups will be out Saturday morning, cleaning up the Intracoastal in Lake Worth.

The cleanup will be happening along the shorelines of the Lake Worth Lagoon and Snook Island areas, adjacent to the Lake Worth Municipal golf course.

Members with the Kiwanis Club and Keep Palm Beach County Beautiful asked volunteers to come out and help with the Great American Cleanup project that happens across the United States.

Organizers said these waters are polluted with old tires, broken bits of lumber, plastic and paper trash.

The Lagoon serves as a fish hatchery and as a habitat for dolphins and birds.
