Fire leaves Suburban Lake Worth family of three temporarily homeless

SUBURBAN LAKE WORTH, Fla. - Three children and one adult were displaced after their suburban Lake Worth home caught fire Thursday afternoon.

Fire crews responded to a call of a fire at 6803 Columbia Avenue in Smith Farms around 4: 11 p.m. When they arrived they saw fire and smoke coming from the attached garage, according to Captain Albert Borroto.

Firefighters found no resident inside the home. They were able to quickly bring the blaze under control, Borroto said.

Red Cross volunteers are assisting the family of  one adult and three children, ages 8, 10, and 12 with  lodging, food, clothing items and recovery supplies, said Robert Stidham of The Red Cross.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
