The driver of a getaway car after a March 21 robbery was charged Friday in the death of a man who leapt from the car and was run over and killed in Lake Worth.

Billy Martin, 31, of Lake Worth now faces charges of vehicle homicide, vehicle homicide leaving the scene of a crash and leaving the scene of a crash involving a death. Martin already was being held on charges of robbery, burglary, fleeing and eluding and resisting arrest.

The incident happened about 8 a.m. on March 21 in the 1500 block of Barton Road, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies were chasing a Ford Mustang driven by Martin when a passenger, Isidro Colon, 38, bailed out and was run over, authorities said. He was hospitalized, but doctors took him off life support at 12:30 a.m. on March 23.

After the crash, Martin stopped the car, jumped out and ran away but was caught a short time later.

He remains today in the Palm Beach County Jail.
