LAKE WORTH, Fla. - Thursday is Child Safety Day in Palm Beach County, and law enforcement is helping keep kids safe.
The Center for Missing and Exploited Children says very often a child is abducted or meets a stranger online because they don't recognize the red flags.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office will hold safety training for parents at North Grade Elementary School in Lake Worth at 8:30 a.m.
The Center for Missing and Exploited Children says a safety kit can be one of best things parents can do to protect their kids.
The kit has your child's picture and most importantly their fingerprints. They say this saves valuable time if they went missing and should be updated every six months.
The Take 25 campaign encourages parents to take 25 minutes to talk to their kids about safety, including where to go if they get lost, what constitutes a stranger, any adult images they may have come across online and noticing inappropriate behavior and what they should do.
The center also recommends asking your child openly if they ever sent a provocative photo online or messaged with someone they don't know.
