16 years after his death, a Palm Beach County teacher is still making a difference in the lives of students.

Barry Grunow was killed by student Nathaniel Brazill on the last day of school in May of 2000 at Lake Worth Middle School.

Recently some of his teaching friends met inside the gymnasium named in his honor at the school.

They work to continue his legacy of kindness and compassion through the Barry Grunow Memorial Scholarship.

"He did innovative things and created relationships with kids. If students want to be a teacher and they want to know about how they got the money, That's what I would tell him about the teacher and person he was,” said Lake Worth Middle School Assistant Principal.

The scholarship has paid out more than $166,000 to 112 Palm Beach County students.
