A Delray Beach firefighter and his nurse practitioner wife have been arrested on drug charges

LAKE WORTH, Fla. - A Delray Beach firefighter and his wife have been arrested on drug-related charges, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.

PBSO says that Robert Baker, who is a firefighter, was using fraudulent prescriptions to obtain hydrocodone.

Baker's wife, according to deputies, had previously worked for a physician on JFK Drive in Atlantis.

Jeanna Baker, according to investigators, had possession of the doctor's prescription pads and fraudulently forged his signature and unique DEA number.

Deputies say that Jeanne Baker had worked for the doctor's office from August 2008 to July 2012 as an advanced registered nurse practitioner.

Investigators said that during 2012 and 2013 multiple prescriptions were filled in the greater Lake Worth area for both Robert and Jeanna Baker using forged information from the Atlantis doctor.

The doctor alerted the Atlantis Police Department which worked with the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.

Both Jeanna and Robert Baker were arrested on drug and fraud charges and booked into the Palm Beach County Jail.

Delray Beach Fire Rescue says that it is not commenting on Robert Baker while the matter is under investigation.

A decision on Baker's job status will be made after he goes through the legal process, according to Delray Beach Fire Rescue.
