LAKE WORTH, Fla. - Katherine the great white shark has returned off the coast of Palm Beach County.
The shark pinged near Palm Beach in May before heading into the Gulf of Mexico this summer.
Now, according to Ocearch.org , she is heading north and pinged on July 19 near Lake Worth and Lantana.
Katherine was tagged on her dorsal fin with a GPS locater in August 2013 off Cape Cod, Mass.
A ping registers whenever the fin breaks the surface of the water long enough for the GPS to determine its location.
Researchers are using the data to learn about shark-migrating patterns.
